I'm a brand identity and visual systems designer based in Portland, Oregon.

Most of my work starts with a naming or positioning problem, something that doesn't quite fit yet, and works outward from there into identity, packaging, environmental design, and product. I like projects where the brief is still being figured out, because that's usually where the interesting design decisions live.

For the past six years I've been leading creative work in a high-volume environment, building brand and marketing systems for thousands of small businesses across the country. That pace taught me how to think fast, communicate clearly, and make decisions that hold up under real conditions.

I'm drawn to work rooted in culture, community, and the outdoors. Those worlds tend to attract people with a strong point of view and something real to say, which makes for better briefs and better design.

Outside of work I'm usually climbing, making music, or convincing my friends that a six-hour approach is a reasonable way to spend a Saturday.
